Having long and voluminous hair is an evergreen trend. Women with short or thin hair always long to have that stylish hair flip as they take a round. In this article we will delve into the intricacies of hair extensions that will allow you to have a hot fusion of natural and artificial hair.
There are so many styles of hair extensions, with each of them having some pros and cons. Every woman has her own demand as per the usage and lifestyle when it’s about choosing the right kind of extensions. Some want the temporary ones that can be frequently removed, while some might look for the semi-permanent extensions that can stay intact for a longer period of time.
Talking about having a natural hair look after using the hair extensions, Manoj Yadav, hairstylist at Noir salon, Punjabi Bagh says, “Hair extensions are made out of real human hair from top to bottom, some can be synthetic, but are rarely used. Therefore, having that real look and feel with natural hair extensions is a given.”
Hair experts at Noir salon have listed out major categories of extensions for those perfect looking glamorous hair:
Clip-in hair extensions – It is the most popular type of temporary hair extension. The contoured strands are attached to the base with a fabric or silicone. They are ready to use and take usually 5-15 minutes for application. These are least recommended for thin haired people as they may not hide the plain view of the extensions.
Halo hair extensions – These are least damaging for the hair roots as they are not really attached to the actual hair. A transparent wire covers the crown of the head like a halo. Bottom half has the extension hairs and the upper half is covered with the actual hair.
Tape-in hair extensions – It is the best kind for those with thin hair. Tape-in hair extensions are pre-taped and then glued on either side of the original hair. Its thick volume gives a good volume to the natural hair. These generally take 40 minutes to 1 hour for perfect application.
Fusion or pre-bonded hair extension – This is a semi-permanent kind of hair extension, fused with the natural hair using heat and keratin glue. It is a good option for those with finer hair and can take up to 3-4 hours for accurate application. Here the extensions are glued to individual strands of the hair.
